I can remember the very first time I had Tom Kha Gai Soup. Rollerblading down Hollywood beach in South Florida in my late 20's, while on a date with a very nice young lady. I was beginning to allow my taste buds to grow up and try new foods. Besides, who wants to look like they're "uncultured" while on a date? I decided to see what this Tom Kha Gai soup was all about.

This experience was towards the beginning of my wellness journey. Here I am a decade later, still grateful to that young lady for exposing me to new foods. I wish her well wherever she is. Today as I continue working on optimizing my health, I am constantly creating art in the kitchen with better quality ingredients that feed my mind, body and soul.

With that said, here is an optimized Tom Kha Gai soup that follows the AIP protocol. With a nice bone broth base which is full of healthy ingredients like glyc...

There is not a week that goes by that I don't mention the benefits of bone broth. Common in many cultures, broths made from animal bones are used as a health tonic with benefits that range from general wellness and disease prevention to high-end athletic performance. Broth-drinking is trending into popularity. With that said, let's take a look, or better yet a sip at the guide below. You'll then have a better understanding of why you may want to add bone broth to your nutritional protocol.

What Is Bone Broth?

It's basically a soup, right? Bone broths are the result of simmering animal bones, vegetables, and spices in water. Many types of animals are used with chicken, beef, pork, and fish being the most common, Some include meat in addition to the bones for flavor.

The heat and cooking time (usually around 24 hours) draws the collagen out of the bones and conn...

What is inflammation? A precise definition seems altogether impossible. Inflammation manifests in different ways, which spans the spectrum of both helpful and harmful.
Today we are working towards having a better understanding of inflammation and its role in our lives. The best attempts to define inflammation still lack the precision that we've been looking for more than a century.

Inflammation is our immune system's primary tool in the elimination of toxic agents and the repair of damaged tissues. But when inflammation persists to a chronic state or switches on inappropriately, it can become our enemy rather than our friend. Hardly a week goes by in which I don't come across a study where researchers are finding new links between inappropriate inflammation and common diseases & disorders.
The other day I came across a study that found the brains of children with Auti...

Let's take it back to the beginning. A beginning that we all share in common. its the first action we take after leaving our mothers womb. Ready? Ok, in 3....2...1. Take a deep breath. Feel your chest rise and fall? How does that feel? How do you know you're doing it right? Right or wrong, it's essential. Sweat Nation, let's go over and clarify a few breathing exercises that will serve to relieve stress, improve focus, and even lower your blood pressure.

I was on a hike with a buddy Mike from San Francisco, while hiking the Rubicon Trail in Lake Tahoe. He was telling me how much better he's been feeling after he quit smoking cigarettes and began doing yoga with more consistency. Other benefits mentioned were how much easier it felt to be on a hike, and increased clarity of mind experienced throughout the day. I then thought to ask, "What is it that you miss about smok...

I'm always taken aback by all the knowledge Dr. Rhonda Patrick holds in her head. She digs deep and fleshes out the through tons of research. One of her top recommendations is eating seafood. Unfortunately, I have a seafood intolerance. When I eat it, I begin to get a rash that starts in my arms, and depending on how much I eat, spreads from there.I know many of you in Sweat Nation love seafood, and since I take my role as a wellness curator seriously. I want to help you optimize your health as deliciously as possible, I thought this would be a great recipe. It's quick, delicious, and healthy! Enjoy my seafood Sweat Nation compatriots.

What's good Sweat Nation! Everyone loves buffalo sauce-flavored anything, right? Or is that just me? I can still remember the very first time I had buffalo wings in high school. My life changed for the better after that day at the Denny's in Coral Gables, Florida. Wings is still one of my favorite things. I get excited anytime I make buffalo sauce anything. It really is a popular finger food. It's a staple at gatherings and sporting events, and because for those of us that love a spicy kick, it delivers. These meatballs, because give you the same delicious flavors as wings but it’s less messy and you don’t have to deal with the bones.
